March 1, 2022 (Tuesday) through January 31, 2023 (Tuesday) - EXHIBIT: In 3-D: History of Stereographs and other Victorian Optical Illusions
Discover the history of 3-D optical illusion devices in this new exhibit at the Mills. Included on all guided tours. All ages.
April 2, 2022 (Saturday), 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. - Spring Workshop for Kids.
Bring your creativity and scissor skills to the Mills for a workshop that will get you into Spring! We'll be making four kid crafts. All supplies are provided. Pre-registration is required. Location: Classroom Building. Ages: 5-10. 1-2 kids/1 adult. Fee: $5/child.
April 24, 2022 (Sunday), 1 p.m. - Gallery Talk: The 3-D History of Stereographs & Other Victorian Optical Illusions.
Hear an in-depth talk about the history of stereographs. Learn how these devices were the longest running types of photography spanning from daguerreotypes to modern day. Visitors will be able to view many of the stereographs in 3-D. Pre-registration required. Location: Second floor of Mansion.
May 14, 2022 (Saturday), 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - A Visit to the General Store
Come into the General Store to learn about early 20th Century life in Schwenksville. Take on the role of a resident, shop for your family, and try your hand at grinding grain, weighing beans, choosing foods that are within your budget, and sorting mail. Mansion tours must be scheduled in advance. All ages.
June 4, 2022 (Saturday), 4 p.m. - Porch Performance: Meet Harriet Tubman
Harriet Tubman was the most famous conductor of the Underground Railroad. She helped thousands of enslaved Africans to escape to freedom. Bring a chair to sit on the lawn. Mansion tours must be scheduled in advance. All ages.
June 25, 2022 (Saturday), 1 - 3 p.m. - Vintage Base Ball at its Best!
Bring a chair or blanket to sit on and enjoy base ball as it was played in the early days. Root for the Athletic Base Ball Club of Philadelphia on the field at the Mills. Mansion tours must be scheduled in advance. All ages.
July 16, 2022 (Saturday), 4 p.m. - Porch Performance: Fire in the Hole!
Coal was the fuel of America's Industrial Revolution and no one knows the dangers of "life below ground" better than Irish miner, Frank Kehoe. Rich Pawling will share his in-depth knowledge and musical talents. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on the lawn. Mansion open for tours by pre-reservation. All ages. July 30, 2022 (Saturday), 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. - Workshop: Boomerangs
This is a program for all ages. Learn about this popular toy of the early 1900s and learn how to make a cardboard indoor boomerang. This is an outdoor workshop. All materials provided. Mansion open for tours by pre-reservation. Pre-registration is preferred.
August 7, 2022 (Sunday), 1 - 3 p.m. - In the Good Old Summertime
Come to Pennypacker Mills where you can relive the good old summertime. Play lawn games of croquet, table-top games, visit the General Store and shop for weekly food, and take a guided tour of the Pennypacker mansion. All ages.
August 20, 2022 (Saturday), 4 p.m. - Porch Performance: Sherlock Holmes & the Speckled Band
See Sherlock Holmes in his study working out the mystery. Then, follow him to an old mansion where he must stop a killer from committing another horrible crime! Bring a chair or blanket to sit on the lawn. Mansion tours by pre-reservation. All ages. Sponsored by the Friends of Pennypacker Mills.
September 17, 2022 (Saturday), 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Craft Marketplace
Come to this outstanding craft event where one-of-a-kind handmade crafts will be on sale. The Pennypacker mansion is open for free guided tours. All ages. Free parking and admission.
October 1, 2022 (Saturday), 4 p.m. - Porch Performance: Edgar Allan Poe: Readings by Virginia Poe
Welcome Virginia Poe as she discusses her relationship with her husband, Edgar Allen Poe and then does a dramatic reading of "The Black Cat." Bring a chair or blanket to sit on the lawn. Mansion open for tours by pre-reservation . All ages. Sponsored by the Friends of Pennypacker Mills.
October 15, 2022 (Saturday), 1 - 4 p.m. - All Hallows Eve Fall Festival
Spend a beautiful fall day at the Mills where kids can paint a pumpkin, make fall kid crafts, press apples to make cider, and shuck corn. The whole family can enjoy a hayride around the meadow. All ages.
November 22, 2022 (Tuesday) through January 8, 2023 (Sunday) - Holiday Tours
Tour through the Pennypacker mansion and see Victorian decorations, discover how the Pennypackers celebrated Christmas and what life was like in the early 1900s. Mansion open for tours by pre-reservation. Museum shop available. All ages. Pre-registration required.
December 10, 2022 (Saturday), 2 - 8 p.m. - Victorian Christmas Open House
The mansion comes alive with living historians, and a bell choir performing on the porch. See how the Pennypacker family celebrated Christmas and see a clear toy candy demonstration.
